El Mito is an intercontinental gravel challenge, at the place where Europe and Africa meet. A journey from north to south of the Strait of Gibraltar, between Ronda, one of the most beautiful cities in Spain with its mythical Puente Nuevo, to Tetouan, the cultural capital of northern Morocco, which has one of the best preserved and authentic medinas in the Maghreb. Between these two points on the map, two stages, hundreds of kilometers, towns, ports and a ferry ride that connects two worlds.
The purpose of El Mito is to unite, to create links between the cultures and nature of the Strait of Gibraltar, through cycling, offering an adventure and an unforgettable experience for its participants. A tribute to classic and adventure cycling, between two continents.
CHECKPOINTS
The 350 km track is not only a sporting challenge but also a journey through the mountains and sea that gave birth to the Myth of Hercules. Over the course of two stages, you will pass through 12 Checkpoints, a tribute to the 12 legendary labors of Hercules, the hero of this corner of the map where East and West meet. Eight of these checkpoints will be virtual, while four will be physical, strategically placed along the route.
Regulations
RULE # 1
› LEAVE NO TRACE
Respect the environment, you will ride through protected areas and fragile ecosystems. Minimize the impact and leave no trace.
RULE # 2
› SECURITY & RESPONSIBILITY
You will ride into open roads, respect the traffic laws please. Helmet, front and rear lights are mandatory.
RULE # 3
› BE ON TIME
If you don't arrive before the time limit set by the organization and specified in the handbook, you will be excluded from the event.
RULE # 4
› CHECKPOINTS
It is mandatory to follow the official route all the time. Taking other routes means disqualification.
RULE # 5
› BE SELF-SUFFICIENT
El Mito is a self-sufficient and bikepacking event. The external help is not allowed and is a cause of disqualification.
RULE # 6
› TAKE CARE OF YOUR TRACKER
You are fully responsible of its proper use and working.
RULE # 7
› TAKE ON HEALTH INSURANCE
Health insurance is mandatory and will be checked to take part in El Mito.
RULE # 8
› RESPECT
Maintain a respectful attitude towards the territories, communities, staff and other riders.
RULE # 9
› THE BREVET CARD
The brevet card is a passport that the riders will carry with them on the event. It is mandatory to sign the brevet card in the checkpoints described by the organization.

› HONORABILITY
It is inherent to the bikepacking events the honorability of their participants. Out of respect for the event, the organization, other riders and you, don't break the rules.
